Alright, Really, Where Is The Flasher Relay?

sorry 'bout the caps, but I am getting annoyed at the buzzing from the "flasher relay" it is a 1982 300SD and I pulled the Insturment cluster, no relay back there, I pulled the panel where the EM flasher switch is, no relay there, in the fuse box there are 6 large relays, none of them match what phil sent me to replace the relay. WHERE IS IT?
also, when the key is on or off, the 4 silver relays are HOT to the touch.
what do they do?

Not sure about your SD but there is a flasher relay under the console, forward of the shifter on my 240. It went out right in front of a MB shop down in Ca when I was on a road trip. The mechanic showed me where it was and had one in stock, $40.:D

I'm not certain about the SD, but on the W123 it is under the center console, just in front of the shift lever.

the last one i did on a 126 was in the fuse box under the hood, the clicking you hear behind the dash is just a noise maker

I thought the flasher relay was part of the hazard light switch on early W123s.

I know both places where the flasher relay is on the early and late 123's, but this is a 126, and everyplace I have been told to look for the relay, the thing is NOT there. perhaps it is part of the EM flasher switch, cause the flashers do not work at all when the switch is pulled from it's wire.
I would really like to have normal turn signals again. you know, blink... blink... blink... not BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ the signals flash so fast it sounds like a buzzer. HELP!!!

The flasher is directly behind the instrument cluster on the early 126.

Where? attached to the cluster itself? hidden under the ductwork or wires? where? I can't seem to find it.

As per Brian. Dead on behind the speedo; black box, says SAE-DOT on mine. Just checked for the clicking and could hear and feel it there. Even pulled the cluster to check for you ;) It's mounted on the metal reinforcement struts where all the ground wires go, look in the hole where the cluster used to be and you're staring at it.....honest.

I'm looking at a photo of it in a .pdf file. If there is a way of taking a screen shot and putting it up here, let me know. I can't seem to get a screen shot of a .pdf file..........

here is what it looks like inside the cluster of my 82 and 83 SD's...
Where should the flasher be?

press alt and Print Screen then open a picture editing program (like ms paint) and press Ctrl and V (paste) then save the pic as a jpg and upload it.

This bit of info got me to try listening for it! thanks!
I found it buried under all the ground wires...

Yep, my mistake was not using a picture editor. I have it saved, but, it's too large for the forum anyway. Can't shrink it to 66K or you'll never see anything.........the original manual photo is not too great.

Glad you found it anyway.

if the photo is too big for the forum editor, just host it to photobucket and link the image from there.
that's what I did on the clear craze post I did.
