Mine is incorrect too. I've been told that there are two, a 3.07 and a 2.88. I think I have the 2.88 and I need the 3.07. Mine is reading fast, about 2MPH faster for every 10 MPH of speed! Besides, my odometer is broken.

LOL, sounds like you two need to trade speedos.

The 82-84 is 3.07 and the 85 is 2.88.

I have both speedo's on my parts cars, I guess I could go push them out and read you the part #'s... I have a N/A speedo out, but it has the 3.46 rear.

Spedo

I would love a correct Speedo or a whole cluster since the oil gauge is in correct as well.

I wondered if we would need each others speedo's! How can the oil guage be incorrect? That is purely mechanical and works directly off of the engine oil pressure!

Thanks, that helps to know that! I know the PO had to make a tranny swap and told me it threw the speedo off. I've just been putting up with it. My odometer is faulty too. It's not reading the mileage anymore!

The odometer failure is a separate problem, either the little plastic gears are stripped or the gear is slipping on the shaft. If you do a search, there is a good amount of info on fixing the odometer.

I understand that. I just didn't want to fix a speedometer that didn't operate in my car properly.

If the odometer doesn`t work, how do you know when to change your
oil?
Last July we were between somewhere and nowhere texas and the spedo
quits. figured it was the cable. get home, pull the spedo and there is a
piece of cable sticking out. just snapped off. had to send it in to be fixed.
the odometer reads close to the highway milage markers. but the spedo
reads fast. at 3000 rpm iam doing 70mph. before i was 62 to 65 mph @
3000 rpm. but at least now it doesn`t jump around and grind.

Oil Gauge

The oil gauge is 15-30-45 Lb/SQ Inch and from what I understand the correct Gauge should be in bars and have a black center tab. My center Tab is silver. It does read okay but I prefer an original.

123 odo repair on dieselgiant's site
85 OP guages commonly fail, so most pull the guage set from older cars in junkyards. normal. and only astheticly different. any guage set from 82 and up car would work for the black button version. 85 speedo is different due to the rear ration mentioned above. also the 85 tach is different completely from the earlier tachs. both need to be pulled from 85 doners.
