My 300 CD Turbo Diesel

WOW! After 2 yrs sitting in a junk yard with only the instrument cluster gone and some damage to the drs headlight. I put in a new battery, radiator, ac condensor and headlight and turned the key and she stumbled to life and began to purr like a kitten. Cant wait to get it on the highway and open her up.

Change the two fuel filters under hood and I would change the fuel tank strainer as well. Old diesel will gather moisture within the fuel tank. Flush the brake fluid as well. Brake fluid gathers moisture over time as well. Great find! Good luck!

I was all hot about the CD till I realized it weighs more or less the same as the sedan. Other than shorter wheel base I can't seem to find a good enough reason to pick one up. GL however and enjoy the find, how much $$$ did you part with?

Im a VW mechanic and a friend has several VWs and doesnt know a thing about european cars so we traded my time and work for this car. Cool huh. All fluids will be changed and fuel tank drained when I get it to my shop. Its still in the junk/parts yard till tomorrow. Cant wait!!! Pics up soon.

There's no accounting for taste! Anyway, I enjoy mine. The lack of "B" pillars and an open sun roof add to the experience of driving around topless. Enjoy!

Once again the reason there are 31 flavors at Baskin & Robbins.....

A 300CD is to me is like the "German '69 Camaro" I never had.....

Even if you don't smoke it is very tempting to roll up a box of Marlboros in the left shirt sleeve of your T- shirt.....IYKWIM.....

Enjoy & post plenty of pic's.....

AA here's mine prior to me bringing her home.....

i like my 300cd. the body parts are rare and expensive if bought new, though.

they are a little lighter and the shorter wheelbase can be felt in driving. they feel more nimble.

the roofline is about 2" lower too and the divers seat is correspondingly lower as well. you can feel this difference when you go from one body style to the other.

the coupe has a kindof gangsta feel.

LOLZ tom said gansta.

There is atleast one other diesel coup, GM product I believe. I just don't care for the body style much I guess. It's just not that much of an improvement over the sedan. If they didnt have a back seat, then we'd be talkin!

I have three MB
a 300SD (1980)and 300SD (1985)(diesels)
I also have a coup but its a 280 GASSER. (1978)
to each his own..... if MB didn't ride so nice then i wouldn't have three.
Besides doesnt a CD look like a hotrod.

let's not get carried away

I LOVE MY COUPE. It is no sports car. though That is the SL line. I think of it as a good looking economical sedan with two doors ( I like the look). It wasn't supposed to be top of the line luxury, but in my opinion it was extremely well engineered inside and out, and according to what I have read, it is probably Mercedes best diesel design. Remember they didn't make a Euro coupe, because no one there would buy it. It is sacreligious to put a diesel in a coupe.

Had to replace oil cooler lines. Never want to do that again!!!! Lucky for me no leaks afterwards. Lots of vacuum limes and I dont know where they go. Im gonna look at another 300D tomorrow and try to get an idea where they go. It doesnt seam to have much power starting off the line and I dont feel the turbo. Is this normal for these cars? Being a VW mechanic, our tdi diesel is pretty quick. What is the ALDA? Ive read some posts on removing it for power. Ill post pics tomorrow.

Are you kidding ?!?!? The CD is the schnizzle !! Four years ago in my Benz advisor days, I had a new client move up from Arizona with an 83 CD, with... Say it with me now.... THIRTY-SEVEN THOUSAND MILES !!! Original owner !!! It was Light Ivory on Palamino. You could still see the clean paint in the wheel wells. It was garaged, never seen rain or snow and other than replacing all the suspension rubber and exhaust with a s/s system, all original. I offered him $25G's on the spot. Of course he refused.. The funny thing was when it went into the shop for service. In amongst all the SL55's, S600's and the like, which service bay had a crowd of people around it ??? I'd trade my Sd and even my dog for one..
