Leaking euro lights
Hello-
I recently replaced one of my euro lenses and I notice that it's leaking pretty bad. Water collects in there when I wash the car and now it's yellowish and nasty on the inside, probably algae heh. The lens came with a new rubber gasket and is held in place with clips mounted to the housing. The housing is older and the clips seem to have lost their spring perhaps. What's the best solution, is there some fix to replace the old clips, do I need a new housing? I searched and found something about silicone caulk but it sounded like the light assembly was different. Thanks guys- Rob 1979 300SD W116 |
moisture in euro lamps
hay rob, i had a similar problem with my euro headlamps, removed lens several times to insure proper seal, etc. finally, i squeezed the clips in a vice to improve the tension and so far it seems to have worked. I can spray them with a high pressure washer at the car wash and they are water tight.

when was the last time you replaced your halogen filter or fluid. negligence will lead to costly failures:)
sorry, i could not resist. |
Maybe some photo-biocide to kill that algae in the lens! :P
I'll try reworking the spring clips. I think a couple may have fallen off...might have to look for a new housing. |
