Coolant leak near trans?

I am looking at a 1983 300D Turbo Diesel. The car is mostly in good shape from what I have inspected. I am new to the Mercedes arena. There is one issue that I noticed that is of concern to me. Right in the area where the engine joins with the transmission there is some coolant leakage coming from somewhere. Are there transmission cooling lines that use the engine coolant in that area (I havent gotten a chance to get it up on a lift yet). Maybe they are leaking? Would the leak come from the rear main seal? Usually that would just be oil.

Thanks!

on the drivers side of the motor, there is a heater hose that wraps around the oil filter, they crack often.
also there are several coolant lines on the firewall that could be cracked. it could also be the heater core, leaking out the a/c condensate drain line.
