Rebuilding 124 Rear Control Arms

I am planning to rebuild the rear control arms of my 93 300D Turbo. I am getting some squeaks and I ahve been told that the rear bushings need to be replaced.

Has anyone replaced the rear control arm bushings? Tie-rod ?

The bushings cost about $21 and the whole control arm cost $50. Rebuild or replace ?

Some control arms have bushings others r a straight replacement.

What r ur suggestions ? Which control arms r critical?

I'm about to do the same.

I'm interested to hear replies on this also.

If you're getting noise from the rear control arm bushings it's probably the
bottom bushing in the bearing carrier. Just replaced mine because the drivers
side was squeaking anytime you went over a bump. Seals on the ends of the bushing were shot and the grease had leaked out. Took it apart once out and metal "ball" inside had worn through the plastic piece it sat in and was rubbing on the outside metal sleeve. Did both sides, right was shot also just not making noise yet. Also replaced subframe bushing, differential bushing, rear flex disc, & axle boots. It's a time consuming job if you have not done it before like me. Next time would be easier. Bought bushings for the control arms but mine looked good so I didn't do them. Made a big difference in the ride and now there's no clunk when putting it in gear. Buying new arms won't do you any good for the bottom bushings since they're pressed in the bearing carrier and arm bolts up to it. If your top bushings are bad I would just press in new unless the arm is bent and needs replacing. Good luck.
