would you be scared of a car that live in CT?
 

I found a '99 e300d in Central Texas the owners will sell me for $15,500.

It was 93,500 miles.

The car was purchased in 8/05 from "a broker" for a family here who had specifically looked for this kind of car.

They want to get an SUV because they travel with a large family.

They mentioned to me and confirmed from the car fax that the car was purchased and serviced in West Hartford, CT and sold in an auction in Aug. 2005.

I am pretty sure I'm buying the car based on the results a pre-purchase inspection I'm having done Monday, as I understand the spring perches, ac evap, and glow plugs are fussy on these cars.

Anything else I should be concerned with?

From reading this board, this sounds like a really fun car to drive.

Rust, certainly, would always be a concern with these models, in cars from the Northeast USA.....

And condition of spring perches, as well as prior accident damage...

A diesel with 99k is barely run in.

Well, With the car, being a 1999, there should be NO RUST issues with it, no matter what state it came from. It's simply too young. If it was brought to Tex-ass a few years ago, this means it spent even less time in CT.
I live in Ct. and have all my life. Salt, is not laid very heavily up there, dispite whatever you've heard, or presume. It's not like Michigan, Main, or NewHampshire, where they over-do it. Part of the reason Ct. is not so heavy on the salt, is because the state, is so friggin' stingy with their cheap budgets. The other part, is that there are a lot of water bodies, throughout the state, and there are runoff issues, and a lot of those loser, tree huggers, in the state who cry about things like that. Last, but not least. It doesn't stay cold enough, for long enough, and the ice, very often begins to melt, before the salt trucks ever get out of the yard. They generally, apply the salt, only in the areas critical, and are not very generous with the salt. I wouldn't worry about the car, in that department. Maybe those other issues, the other guys mentioned, but not the rust/salt issues yet.

It shouldn't be a problem. Just inspect all the usual W210 spots.

Make specific request the inspector look at the perches and undercoating in those areas for damage or past repairs.

As with any vehicle, maint records and high miles is better than no records and low miles generally. That said, most of the problems with the 606 are more of a nagging nature and eaisly dealt with if you are willing to do the work yourself. The exceptions would be the perches and snapped/stuck GP's.
