Question new mercedesshop dashpot different that old one

I have replaced an inline airfilter(really a fuel filter), and the two green dashpots on my vacuum line with some baught from mercedesshop.
The new dashpots are quite longer, and i can see right thru the hole to the other side. My old ones you cannot see thru. Is this the right part? My trans does seem to be shifting better now that i replaced the parts... But I do need to drive it a bit more to know for sure as the problem used to seem to flux on and off....

Anyhow- the new dashpots let thru alot more air.
Are the old ones clogged, or is there a washer in there of some sort...
It does seem there is a washer/diaphram in the old one. nothing in the new.

Top- New filter
Bottom-Old

Thanks community.

I've reposted this from the wrong forum.

Since post I have swaped between the new and old. the new ones let thru so much more air I must belive something is amiss. The new ones, as you can see, you can see right thru. no restiction whatsoever....

How much restriction should there be and how do I test it?

Have mityvac.

Old ones are just clogged.

The new ones should regulate how much vacuum is allowed certain places. Find the vacuum diagram for your car, and print it out. Then you will need to (probably) adjust things until your VCV controls the vacuum to the transmission modulator. Read Steves article on how to do that here > http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/TransVacTune

Just follow his DIY --- Makes it easy.
