Question 300d fuel filters- larger filter advice needed...

I recently replaced my fuel filter (main not pre) with one from mercedesshop.com.
The new filter is slightly thinner and shorter.

Yesturday I noticed I cannot accellerate aas fast as I used to.

Is that due to the shorter filter?
I am also running veggie oil, and am guessing the larger filters have a bit more flow. Is that true?

What larger models fit? whats good?

Thanks in advance...

unsure what previous filter was. I tossed it to a garage before checking it.

Some filters are not capable of passing veggie oil through them efficiently, unless the veggie is heated to 150 F of higher.

My oil is good n hot, I only switch to oil after it's 176f (80c).
I was on the highway when I noticed the lack of top end.

lack of "Acceleration" is a bad way for me to describe the symptom,
this is a bit more explanatory...

After a certian point of acceleration, the fuel seems restricted and more pedal does nothing. Even flooring the gas from that point... does nothing, the pedal feels like it used to, but before it would go vrooom.

Before the filter change it would Go Go Go. Now it won't go over 64mph.

I switched back to diesel and even after 15 minutes of just
running diesel it reacts the same. It seems to me I used to have better flow.

Check to make sure the hard line that goes to the ALDA from the turbo switch over valve did not get hit and broken. Don't ask me how I found that one out!

Does it go vroom when you are runnnin on str8 diesel?

I'd check the return line for flow by pointing it into a largish bottle, there should be good flow thru it.

"Does it go vroom when you are runnnin on str8 diesel?"

nope. same as oil. not much happens above 60ish mph.

"make sure the hard line that goes to the ALDA from the turbo switch..."

ALDA turbo line looks fine.

Gonna go take it for a run...

HAve you cleaned out the banjo bolt on the intake, and also checked your turbo switchover valve? When I first got my car, the PO bypassed the turbo switch over valve. I soon learned why. The valve was frozen shut, so no boost signal was being sent to the ALDA. So, I bypassed it again while a new valve was on order.

Also, do check for an air leak in the fuel system. I had a primary filter that had cracked, so air was being sucked in. I had a heck of a time getting up to speed.

WOOHOO,
All better. The idiot who changed my fuel filter didnt put it on as tightly as possible. My mileage clued me in pretty fast. I was getting triple mpg on veggie than on diesel. I looked under the hood and found that the dummy who changed the filter musn't have tightened it right, as there was a ring of fuel around the rim, and alotta moist gunk on the engine smelling of diesel.
I'm going to sue the guy because of his shotty work. Does anyone
know of a lawer to aid me in suing myself? Heh. ha, yeah.
Thanks...

Question Thinking of buying a 1995 E300D/Special Edition

I am thinking of buying a 1995 E300D/Special Editions with 204,000 miles. Any thoughts about that mileage level. seller wants $5000.00 Good price/bad price. I plan to see it next week?

New to MB, but somehow I am drawn to it. have not had it checked out. Will if I test drive. Any reliable MB mechanics in Athens GA.

My wife drives to Atlanta 75 miles each way and wants to use veggie oil. Any good recommendations for conversion kits and would this be a good car to have converted? We have talked for a couple of years and now want to do it.

Larry

Glad you got your problem straightened out. As an FYI, Bosch is not an OE fuel filter for your car.

You won't get many answers by Hijacking a thread- especially if it's not related to the subject. Best to start your own thread with your question...
