well, the blankity blank SOB who sold me the wheels claimed he pulled them off his 280 SE... along with the supposedly 2.47 diff. I bet it's not right too... haven't checked it yet. the axles were pristine though.

I think the "rectangular" 15-hole wheels were on the 90-93 W124s, for an example. They may have been on more years than that. They do have that big offset - I couldn't remember it but 49mm sounds right.

Then there are the more rounded 15-hole wheels that were on the 86-87 era W124s. These look just like W126 wheels, but the offset is still wrong for W126. From memory I think those wheels are 38 or 39mm offset.

So, when you buy 15-hole wheels, always ask the seller for the offset number. This is stamped inside the wheel (where the brake dust accumulates) and is of the form ETxx or ETxxx where xxx is the offset.

I learned this lesson the hard way, buying the wrong wheels. Fortunately they fit on the other car - lucky to have W123, W124 and W126 in the stable.

what size tires

are you using on the 15" rims? I have identical wheels with 205/65/15's that are ready for replacement. I like the look of the wheels and they fill out the wells, but I am thinking 195's would be better

it took me a while to find the 15-hole rims w/ the correct offset.

fronts are 205/70r15 GY aquatread

Rears are 205/70r15 GY weatherhandler

they handle well and don't rub, you can look on trierack.com to get the OD of tires you may be considering. I spend almost all of my time on the highway, so any RPM reduction is welcome. I have run upto a 215/70 on a w123 w/ minimal rubbing
