Hoodliner replacement

Working on my car this weekend, my hoodliner decided to DISINTEGRATE! I mean it came down in a flurry of black oil encrusted dust and particles. There is no way this is going to be glued back up. Not enough pieces to hold on to LOL.

I did some searching on the site but have not seen a real good answer for replacing this bugger. Other than going to a junk yard, are there any good ideas out there?

I would just put in a new one. You should be able to get one for about $40.

Tear the old one off, clean the surface and glue the new one on.

There is a ton of information on installation (easy DIY) and the hoodliner can be bought at the BUY PARTS tab on the top of screen. Remember to cover your windshield when spraying glue on hood.

I guess I need to spend more time in the BUY PART area.

Thanks Gents.

Check also under "hood pad". There are many threads, some with pics, and note that what adhesive you use is very important.

Is this the voice of experience? I'm glad you mentioned it...I'm planning on doing mine next week, and wouldn't have thought of that...

a scaffold and the verticle hood feature works well if you dont want to remove the hood to install it.

Is there a good reason to actually replace this?

I don't think I've ever seen an old Benz that actually had the underhood liner still intact

I could post a picture of what it did to my paint above the turbo.

Thank for your the info you shared. I did not see any of this during my search and I would have glued my windshield as well.

It's important to clean the residue of glue/old pad from the (under)surface of the hood.

What would be a good solvent - some kind of alcohol, or perhaps goo gone?
