fuel leak

hey guys,

i have a fuel leak that is coming from that small manual pump that is in the fuel line. i dont know exactly what its called but its like an off white plastic thing that you can unscrew and use it to pump for if you run out of diesel you can pump it through so there arent any air bubbles in the fuel lines.

anyways, at the bottom of that pump, there is a leak, its not that the top where you unscrew it but its at the bottom of that shaft.

is there a gasket or seal there? how can i take that all apart without spilling too much fuel? thanks

That's the primer, they routinely fail. Best bet is to replace. You currently have the old style, fine, I have replaced all with the new style, black push handle that you do not have to unscrew, just pump. Understand not to be used with bio. I use vise grips to clamp on, and muscle off. Utilize stubby 17mm open end to install new one.

it sounds like it's leaking from below the pump. that part has to be removed and a new gasket installed. call phil or email him from the fastlane link above.

New primer pump does not come with the copper seal washer. Gotta call Phil for that. The new style primer is 1000 times better than the old style.

Before you order the pump... just make sure it is not the fuel line leading down to it. I thought I had a leaking pump and it turned out to be that line.

if you have to change the primer pump

http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/PrimerPump

If your running biodiesel it's best to use the earlier style.
