Hey, I know where you guys are coming from. Although I don't drive for a living, 36 of my 38 customers are outside Canada - so I spend a lot of odd hours on the phone with people in time zones ranging from Israel to Singapore. And I'm usually in the Bay area for about a week a month.
So yes, I have more projects backed up too! |

I have to make time to work on my car. Now I am under the gun to get my 1987 done, so I will have to make lots of time. My usual time is from 4:30 to 6:00 in the morning and after 8:00 PM evenings. I drink a lot of coffee. I am very excited to know I will be driving my 87 wagon soon.

I'm thinking about making some changes later this year. Retire the SDL to weekend toy, so I won't be rushed to fix things, and it will stay as clean as I want it. Buy something newer for every day use, take said newer car to the shop for everything.
I just don't have the time or ambition anymore. I don't feel like working/detailing my car every weekend, I rather be working or out in a boat. If I have a free day and its a choice between sailing and working on the car, the car waits.

I don't have all that much time currently to work on my car....so I do it at night after work....or on the weekends sometimes when I have time. I replaced my alternator a couple weeks ago on a friday night, took me from about 8:30pm till 1:30am....took so long because I spent about 2 hours trying to get the pulleys swapped....finally got it though.

Didn't swift go out of business... or just their car carrier branch? RB Auctions had like 200 of their car carrier trucks (covered and un covered)

I'm with you guys - I have a 13mo old son. If he's awake, and the 240Dismal needs its locks fixed, then my locks won't work the next day... (they still dont =) More kids are gonna = more broken bits on the benz.
it gets me sometimes... I don't know what the answer is, other than becoming a automaton that leases a car for 3 years and turns it back in to jump into another lease (if that were really an option for me (maybe it should be..) I wouldnt be hanging out here =) -John

They did however, liquidate their car carrying division. It was originally only opened, to accomodate a huge account which they very shortly after buying all of those trucks, lost, due to poor performance, etc. After losing, (screwing up) the account, they did not know what to do with the trucks. Morons went and put all of their eggs in one basket. This is why I contract a lot of my trucks out to various different carriers. In this industry, even the biggest companies go belly up, every day. I have my trucks farmed out to a host of different carriers, with several different names on the sides of them. I try to stay as diversified, as I can, which works very well for me.
