auto to standard trans or 240d to 300d

i found a nice 1980 240d standard that needs a motor and my 1977 300d needs a transmission. i've been driving for half a year w/o reverse and was wondering which would be easier? converting the transmission or the motor. looks like a lot of hoses to keep track of. the 300d runs great!

If it was me....I would put good motor and good tranny in the better chassis. Lots of work, but do-able. Lots of us here have done it.
