My diesel jeep in a contest
Hey yall,
My Jeep is in a photo contest at 4wheelparts. If you want to help me out by voting for it, go to 4wheelparts.com. In the search window type, "contest." Scroll down on the first page to #22. Each entry has a bunch of techno babble then a number at the end.... look for #22. click above that entry where it says truck photoshoot contest. Then enter your e-mail address in the slot provided. You should see a black Jeep with a Mercedes emblem on the side and if you squint your eyes you can see the TURBO DIESEL badge behind the vent on the hood. It only takes about a minute to vote. Thanks Jon The winner gets a $1k gift card to 4wheelparts, and the cover story in Off-road Adventures magazine. |

Thats the one what do you think.
They let me write some info on the entry form, but they didn't put the info with the pic. The guy who took the pictures took some of the motor as well. He was really impressed with the way it turned out. I want to put the same badges on the passenger side and also the hood star on the hood. Just a matter of time. I have put about 2500 miles on it since I got it all together. I LOVE IT. It's not a racer or anything but it drives pretty good and gets decent milage. I would like to convert it to run veg then it would be a real odd duck. I can't wait. |

Done 5cyl! Nice looking ride, too. I've got a Wrangler too but I've been seriously thinking of putting a Cummins 4BT into my IH Scout 800. Compared to the 196 it might seem downright peppy. Family obilgations take up most of my schedule for the near future so it's a project or two down the list.
How 'bout some engine pics?

My wife really thinks I am done messing with changing motors and the like. I would love to put a 4bt in a Wrangler. I believe it has been done before and it has about 200 hp and even more tourque. I attached a pic of with the hood open. The motor is stock and I even used the stock air cleaner.
You guys are rockin' I have also put this posting on a jeep forum and over 120 people have looked at it and I have got just over 6 votes. compaired to less that 20 views here with the same votes!!! Thanks I can say without the info from this fourm I would not have been able to get the Jeep up and running. I am so happy I get to drive it to work today. Thanks Jon |

What's you mpg running? I've got a Land Cruiser that's going to get either a 4bt or a 617.

Nice job Jon.
I'm partial to Benz diesels in 4WD trucks. Stuffed a 616 in my Land Rover years ago and love it. 25mpg on the higway and even better on the slow roads. jim http://www.seriestrek.com |

How about a diesel GMC?
Nice looking job. I voted. I had similar thoughts of putting the drive train from a 300 sd parts car into my 54'gmc 5 window pickup. A truck should have a diesel ,?,no? It would definitely cruise nicer with the highway gears. Catuch
