IP return to fuel filter

If the the IP lines from the fuel filter and back to it were plugged and, say, the IP was offline, would the lift pump just circulate the fuel through the filters and back to the tank? Or would it die? I would think it would just circulate it without any undo strain but I'd like some confirmation.

Thanks in advance.

What does "IP Offline" mean to you?

if unplugged, or dead, the lift pump that is attached to it wont pump; nor will it work if the fuel lines are plugged. If fuel lines are open, the lift pump wont pump.

Lance will elaborate, but in brief, thats what'll happen.

Yes, please Lance. I would think that just as it passes overflow during normal operation, the filter housing would do the same when the lines to the IP were closed. They would just pass more fuel.

If the lines to and from the IP on the fuel filter canister were both blocked, would the lift pump move the fuel to the filter housing and back to the tank without problem?
