Question rough idle - diesel

I've been chasing down a quirky problem with this (606.962) diesel engine for over 6 months. When first starts and for the 1st 15-20 minutes after start idles smooth as silk. Then begins to miss. Initially, putting the vehicle in gear - the miss goes away, and there is no perceptable miss during acceleration. (Only appears to occur at idle)

Have changed all of the fuel filters. Injectors seem to be fine. changed out the glowplugs a couple of weeks back at which time I replaced all of the plastic fuel lines. All other plastic lines back to the tank were replaced 18 months ago, and no air bubbles are visible in fuel coming into injection pump.

Had the injector pump resealed a week ago. Still idling rough.

Anyone familiar with this issue?

Re Rough Idle

Terry,

I checked out the thread and thing that a diesel purge could help. What is still confusing to me is how it can idle as smooth as silk at some times, and rough as a dirt road others. If it were buildup, wouldn't it be rough ALL (or most of) the time?
