I agree. The cam job would be relatively easy and not too expensive.
Parting a car like that would be a shame.

The motor that came from the factory was good. The PO bought this car for the motor and put it in his SL with had the the bad cam. right now the motor is out of the car and has 1 bad lobe that I can see by eye.

used cams are available, so are new ones. Replacing a cam is straight forward, especially with the engine out, if you're mechanically inclined.

The 123 coupe is a pretty car. If you have one that's pretty enough to keep, keep it.
