What would you do?.....280CE
1978. I have been offered one for $200. PO purchased the car, in good running condition for the motor. He then proceeded to yank the motor and have it put into his SL which he wore a cam on. Car is complete and the SL motor is there also. The CE is in very good condition bodywise interior is not bad either. Cracked dash (black) and all glass is good.DO you think I should put it back together, part it out, or walk away

For $200? I'd definitely snatch it up and tinker with it as a summer project. But thats just me...

How rare are these things???? I just did a flea bay search and couldn't come up with anything this year

You can't go wrong for $200. |
there is a green one in my neighborhood, I see in on the highway often. cool looking car.
I say do it! |
If it has the euro Coupe bumpers, those are worth much more than the 200 dollars for the car. Someone here would like to buy those if they have a coupe. ;) If you buy it to part it out I have a list of things I need for you...

correction
It's a 79 not 78.....does not have the Euro bumpers. Has the standard Federal bumpers with the rubber corners that are in great shape. If it did have the Euros.......they would be on my 300d by now:D.

chevy 350...
the w123 coupe is a great car... for $200, I would do it. |
2 words from a 123 coupe owner, BUY IT!
I have a Euro 123 coupe and I love it. Mine is a 2.3L version and for a 4 banger, it leaves the turbo diesels in the dust. Forget converting it to a diesel. The engine I presume you're getting is from an SL should be a more potent version of the 2.8L. It'll be great car. |
ok......I'm getting it:rolleyes:. At this time I think I will be parting it out as I don't have that much time right now to restore it. .....and Yes, the motor that is with it came from an 83 280SL. It has a bad cam.
|
Buy it for $200, drop in a Chevy V8, have fun. Cheap, easy, and reliable.
Seriously, so it has a bad cam? Big deal. It's not a hard job to put in another one; are the lobes flattened or something? How does a cam go bad without excessive wear? |
