never fear! as long as you can open the hood, you can make a benz run. of course if you have the car locked up, that's out, but it's pretty simple to start a benz ala cronk queen...

Sheeesh these people are not responding to me. I have another place just south of Raleigh that has B100. Are we talking about Biodiesel or liquor??

I am hoping to keep this date yet. I have a family member that got real sick all of a sudden and may need to fly out of town. Perhaps I can set it up and y'all meet in my absence?

Im goin back to see if I can get my car running again, so Id not be able to make anything this weekend. I also have come into a set of factory service manuals, specialty tools, and wheels with new michelins (what are the chances of them being AMGs? Slim, but oh-well) that I need to make some sort of payment for and pickup when i have another free weekend. I think I am out till the third weekend in July, but if yall do meet, be sure to take lots of pictures.

Yep you can put me on the mailing list but you know where to find me.

I know a kid named john who is on base with a 83 300D Turbo. He would be up for it. He is a grease burner as well.

I know I have seen a lot of Mercedes Diesels around base. Esp a lot of imports from people comming back from Germany. Saw a nice early 90's e 300 diesel on base today.

I think if we can get a date set we can ask the moderators to post this as a sticky. help those out who do not check up ont he site all the time and then no need for the bumps. It looks like it is for sure going to happen. Just need a date.

OK folks... I hate to do this.. But I am going to need to push back the date..sorry. My son is down with Mono and needs some help, and the first time I can get up there is June 30th of course.

BUUUUT.... I have received a response back from Piedmont Bio Fuels in Pittsboro, saying they are interested in hosting us for a tour to show us how Bio Diesel is made. Unlike wine tours, tasting is HIGHLY discouraged. They will ask for a donation (working on that part) for the tour. Heck I dont have a problem dropping a little into the kitty for them!

More details as we go.

How about changing it to July 7th? Can ANYONE make it then?

It WILL happen! Hang in there!!

Damn where are you guys getting the grease? I have not been able to get anyone to agree yet. Sounds like we need a Ft Bragg get together!

Oh this will happen! Still working the date. and heck if we dont get a bunch this time, we will keep doing it. I am already thinking about the route for the fall Smokey Mountain Weekend! Or how about the Blue Ridge Parkway anyone?

Well as for grease I went to fill up today and the people who actually own the thing came and emptied it. I guess I need to talk to them again and make sure they only call the company after me. So I'm running on #2 for right now. I ran through my stock pile pretty quick in my truck while my rents were here. 1500 miles in 1 week goes quick when you are only getting around 18 MPG

But yep sounds good I'm in no hurry. I always have more work to do on my rig. July 7 sounds good to me I guess.

Hmmm I know a guy in Raeligh that could supply some bio D I think. Might be the same guy but I know (goes by Captain Morgan....think his name was morgan) he odesn't work for piedmont any more even though I think he used to.

Hmmm paying for a tour sounds kinda lamo. I'm a buisness/marketing and entrepreneur major so sounds like a case of Hippie mentality or some smart folks taking advantage of an already good situtation. Not only are some of you probably going to fill up there with their outrageous prices (I'm assuming as I have yet to see anyone do it cheap) and then on top of that you will go and spread the great word about their product to others. Sounds like good enough incetive to me. If they were really good they would give you some free stickers for your windows and some to give out to your freinds. But again Hippie mentality seems to look in the short term of making 2 dollars on a sticker instead of the free advertisment and money that would come in from people knowing about it. It always seems like they have this (we are saving the world give us money mentality)

But I'm just crass today. In a really bad mood for some reason. so that was my two cents.

July 7 would be fine with me. I think I may have to drive my 500SEL instead of the diesel, if that is OK. I won't be able to fill it with B100 but I still would like to see how it is made. By the way, the reason I may drive the 500 is because my wife wants to come and we are not getting any younger. On a long trip (about 350 miles for us) we like the A/C turned down and the seat heaters turned on. The heat makes the trip a lot more enjoyable. The 300D rides fine but it cant hold a candle to the 500 on a long trip. Looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing everyone's MB.
