603 garrett VS, a 617 garrett

would there be any advantage to putting a turbo from a 300D 603 on my 80 SD 617? Are the trims the same?

other than the fact that my 617 has a bit of play and the 603 looks to be rebuilt recently (the 603 has no play and spins nicely.

The 617 has a 45 trim compressor. The 3.0L 603 has a 50trim and the 3.5L has a 55 trim. The higher the trim will flow more air but it works at a slightly lower efficiency.

No benefit unless you increase the fuel to take advantage of the additional airflow available.
