help a 19yr old mb newbie identify parts 603 engine!! - ALDA specifically
Here are some pictures I took. I need someone to help me find the ALDA please!!!!!
It would really help if someone could edit my pictures showing where the ALDA is in a reply to this post. Thanks! Picture #1 Engine right side view Picture #2 Engine top right view Picture #3 To the right of cylinder block Picture #4 Cylinder Block Picture #5 - Is this the computer connector? Where do I get a tool to connect to this? Picture #5 - What is this hole?? Picture #6 - no dirt fell when i tapped it- but this sure looks dirty to me.. (yes that is a shiny 1959 olds in the background - yes it is for sale) I also need to know where the two O rings go for the spin-on fuel filter. I bought a new one and it came with two O rings, one slightly larger than the other I love these forums thanks! |

IIRC the ALDA on the 603 is on the other side of the IP ( the cross over tube is blocking it)
you must live up north since that engine is covered in corrosion... |

The corrosion looked like that when I got the car :\ Trying to take as best care as I can - I would like to tkae a day and clean the corrosion if someone will tell me how, thanks. Can someone at least circle in one of the pictures where the ALDA is, even if it is behind something. thanks. How do I adjust/"mod" it

Alda
Follow your six injector lines on top of the injector pump toward the rear of the car. The plastic piece is the vacuum shutoff, and the ALDA is behind it. Squarish metal top, you can see it in the pictures... 1,2 and 3.

i just happen to have pulled a 603 IP the other day for another member. the red square would represent the intake crossover pipe mentioned. the part that is erased is where your alda is and it is still on the picture. the little square box with a screw on the top.
*note this is how it would be sitting in the car.

I see removing the IP without removing the manifold.. but it appears the ALDA has no way to move upwards to be pulled out of the captive nut

The pictures are not working for me.

If you remove the plastic fuel line clip, you can just barely wiggle it out of the available space..........

That's courtesy of Dave. And, yes, it's his real W124. Mine looks closer to the photos in post #1.

don't even think that's possible without a lot of cuts and abrasions on the hands...the cruise actuator, et. al (attached and blocking the IP) is all underneath the intake and no way to really get in there without removing it..and heck, the manifold, though tedious, is easy to pull.
