two bruised 123's I saw today

While I was tooling around town today I saw two bruised 123's that almost made my eyes well up. The first one was coming towards me in traffic. It was black, clean, shiney, it caught my eye. As it got closer I could see sheet metal protruding from the rear driver side. Sure enough, it had been rear ended. The trunk was pushed up almost to the rear wheel well. What a waste!

The second one was the heartbreaker. I've seen this one around before, must live near my neighborhood. Nice grey turbo, looked pretty clean. Today I saw it and it had been hit. Damage starting at the front of the rear driver side wheel well, into the rear door and into the driver's door. Like it had been parked near an intersection, someone took it too wide and crashed into it. I've seen this car within the last couple of weeks and it was fine. So this damage is recent. Somewhere in Oaktown there is a bummed out 123 owner.

Just makes me appreciate what I have, Oh and to drive carefully...

Ahhh, Oakland.

I don't know where in Oakland you saw this, but I'm sure you must know that there are a lot of uninsured and really bad drivers around there.

Having previously lived in San Franicisco and San Leandro for many years, I've driven in Oakland a lot, even got a couple of cars from their dealers (F.H.Dailey and Connell Motors come to mind) anything not up on Redwood Road, Mountain Avenue, or the Oakland Hills, or near the zoo, and College Avenue near the lake, towards Piedmont, is trouble IMO.

They used to have the Police impound lot under the freeway near 5th & Brush, and you wouldn't believe the state of most the cars that wound up in that place...

I would especially hate to be broken down near E.14th and 98th Avenue after midnight, for the matter of that. If you know what I mean.

Yep, I know you mean. Fortunately I live "towards Piedmont". I'm fortunate enough to have two parking spots with my apt. My Benz lives in the tiny garage and my truck inhabits the drive way. I'm so lucky that my vehicles don't live on the street.
