You do realize I had you in mind, when I typed that. I've seen your wide evil grin, and it fits this scenario perfectly!

Yup! (not that there is anything wrong with that!)

No but someone might think something is dragging by how slow they're going.

With 83 normally aspirated horses when properly tuned, I race no one. Even Yugos can take me due to their complete lack of metal and structural integrity.

Racing anything is fun, if you have a competitive nature its hard to resist and very rewarding.
Never raced the sailboats either. Not that I wouldn't. But still, I think that's different than driving a car on the public street. I was just referring to the relaxed enjoyment of moving through the water as opposed to fighting it. Like working the turbo instead of punching the gas. It takes a little more finesse.

I guess I'm just a snob. Oh well.

I only raced twice on highways with a 300D (vs my 240D) and a Powerstroke F350 king ranch (with my 300SD).

I lost versus the 300D in a flat road.

But what happened with the lifted Powerjoke was actually pretty interesting.
For those of you that dont know Dallas, it is the city of the continous on-ramp highways exchangers. One of the them the mix-master connects I-30,I35, I45, US75 and US175. I was going to Tyler that day coming from I35, and you need to make a convoluted maneuver through the MIXMaster to get on US175. To make the lond story short the Powerstroke was tailgaitng me all the way from before entering the on-ramp nighmare. I was utterly and abslutely out-gunned in power... But the W116 can take pretty sharp turns and i found myself going 60-80mph on the on-ramps, out-maneuvering the powerjoke on each one of them.
The guy driving that monster was furthermore the ultimate jackass, you could hear the engine of the truck roaring after each curve to catch up with the humble OM617.
Finally there is a right angle curve when you enter US175 that you are supposed to take at 25mph. The 116 cleared it easily at 50, the powerjoke skidded out of the road... and bent or broke its front suspenssion!!!!

Moral of the story: you better not try to bully somebody when you have a small dick and drive a lifted truck with and oversized engine that you can control. Particularly when taking on-ramps!!!

That's "cannot control". And if you were to kill one of my sons while you were racing, I assure you, I'll make you beg me to kill you.Ya better hope the fuzz gets there before I get you.

Racing is for race tracks, kids. Even though we drive the 0-60 in 15 minute wondercars. One wrong move and you'll be sued into oblivion...... or worse.. see above...

The worst part is that I did not even race him, I was going about at my regular pace; he raced me and was not able to keep up at 60mph on an on-ramp because he was driving a highly unstable top-heavy vehicle that he could feel was going to flip at any moment. Once on US175 he would have eaten me for breakfast with any acceleration of his 700hp engine but he could not control his vehicle to get to that point. If the bozo cannot take a curve it is his fault not mine. Actually speed of the traffic on this on-ramps IS 60-65mph. He could have taken those ramps at 90mph even in a Kia Rio but he was trying to compensate (the truck even had those marks of good taste; chrome-finished bull testicles).

The car on the right is slow, even on its best day.

The car on the left is fast, by most standards.

Notice the 1/4 time for the SD is respectable, its a strong example.

A couple of days ago I was driving my '83 240D and I raced a guy and while it was close, his Vespa scooter proved to be a bit too quick for me.

I'm not joking.
