Transmission help - 722.3, 1987 300D, OM603

I'm trying to get some info for getting my transmission to work properly. Sure, I've been doing searches, but almost all good info doesn't work for me! What I mean is that they're usually for 617 cars and/or different tranny. Where's the love for my '87 300D with the 722.3xx and 603?

I need TDM info for my transmission, how to change out the leaky modulator, and a list of everything to check for.

The last thing I did was a proper VCV adjustment and turn the transmission's modulator 1 notch CW. I did the modulator adjustment to experiment and see if I could get better shifts. I adjusted the rubber cap's fitting so it contained the leaking better but it's just a band-aid for now.

It used to shift hard and bad before but now it's just flaring. I'm definitely happier because it's more comfortable to drive but I want to get this right and without good info I'm experimenting and half-a**ing everything. I'm a perfectionist and I can't have it like this.

Thanks!
