How do I know if my TrapOx has been replaced
I have a 124 with the 603 in it. How do I tell if my trap has been replaced. Also, why the recall?
Thanks, Nick

This is what the trap ox looks like:
If it has been replaced, there will be a straight pipe in place of the football-shaped trap ox. Other guys can help me on why it was recalled..

I think it was replaced due to it's design came apart and destroyed a bunch of turbos.

Yep I still have the big old muffler looking trap as shown in the picture. Not for long though!

Try to see if you can keep your old header pipe after they replace it with the new one. The new one will have an oxidizing catalyst downstream of your turbo. It's sort of like a catalytic converter for a diesel. You can then put the old header pipe back on your car for your off-road testing purposes.

I just called the dealer and there are two options for replacement.
Doing what everyone says here and just replacing the ox trap. The dealer just replaced mine: no new muffler or turbo. If you go back and read the post where the guy got his exhaust replaced, it was already rusted and need replacing so they just did it because of the tube. I think the best you will do is a replacement in place of the original one.

I think if you obtain a VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) on the car, from your dealer, it would disclose whether the trap oxider had been replaced under the campaign.
I am pretty sure they will only replace it for free once.
