stupid question

What is the best way to spray/clean my radiator, I've read the following

1. head on
2. top down
3. From inside to the outside

Do I need to remove anything or go for it and is it bad to use the
wheel cleaner at the car wash for this application?

car is a 1996 E300

thanks

Want to put a tank in the trunk for WVO/SVO in the E300 Need to find a place to store my OIL!
Still procrastinating about the biodiesel/WVO
Made some biodiesel but so afraid to pour it all in - I've added some and think I'll supplement my fuel to see how I make out

Made some biodiesel but the process scares me - methanol fumes are not your friend! Need to do this outside.

if you had a powerwasher i would say to use the most powerfull soap they have and soak it in it. then use high power and go through it in sections. make sure you dont get too close some pressure washers will bend the fins.

And WHEN, not if, you bend the fins. Get one of these to straighten them out.

Local auto parts stores usually have them. I know that Harbor Freight has them.

it's best to spray it out from the inside to the outside when the radiator is on the ground... but since that's not practical, make sure you spray head on, or from above and DON'T let the spray bend the fins!

I've always used two old steak knives to straighten any bent fins on radiators.

best is to use air first. need to blow from
the eng side out. against normal flow.
make yer own tool. get some big brake line.
now attach an air fitting to one side.
will take a few fittings. then crimp the other end
by flattening it a half inch or so. now fold it over
a bit. now up a 1/2 in or so drill a hole on the side.
now you got a nice tool to blow out the radiator
plus it will fit in small spaces. i loosen the top mounts
so i can also blow out the a/c condensor also.
on mine i actually had two fittings. one for air and
one for water. air does a great job and should be enough.

thanks

Since I don't plan on taking out the radiator yet, I'll try it in place. In the event it doesn't go down as planned I'll start pulling stuff and I will plan
on fixing bent fins

thanks so much
