Question How do you Clean the Screen in the Fuel Tank?

Does anyone have any feedback as to how to clean the screen in the fuel tank? Do you need to remove the tank?

What are typically the reasons/symtoms for needing to clean the screen?

What were your results?

When I changed the fuel filters, the plastic one had some black sediment in it. After I changed it, and finally started the car (after about 15 minutes of rough low idle even with the accelerator down) it finally reved up in RPM's.

However, the car still remains sluggish.

Any feedback as to how to do it will be appreciated.

try and use the forum search function before posting a thread

if you search on

fuel screen removal

for example it will take you to a pictorial that answers most if not all of your questions.

Most problems encountered by yourself have already been encountered several times before by other members this forum. it's an invaluable resource.

I have never done this, but I understand you run the tank as far down as possible, remove screen from under car at tank. any remaining fluid will come out. Special wrench may be required. Remove clean, and or replace. Sluggish, is more difficult to help with, depending on what you're used to, they're all sluggish.

A non-removal method is to add startron tank cleaner to your tank. It definately helped mine!

Available in the boating section of walmart and from westmarine.
