How to fill up the tank without spilling on the body?

I am trying to fill up the tank from a 5 gal diesel container.
How to fill up the tank without spilling on the body? I can't find any funnel that is big enough and it has the 120 degree curve.

Or get a whole different container....I got two yellow 5 gallon diesel cans with flex spouts for about $7 apiece.

Arrow Verrrrrryyyyy Carefully......

just remember....even if you did have a funnel that has the 120* bend......if you fill it too rapidly, you will overfill the funnel and get diesel fuel all over the place.......not just on the car's fender/quarter panel......

I use one of the long trumpet type funnels with about 4" of the small end cut off so the end is bigger for faster flow.

We can't get the new cans with the flex spout. It's now the crappy "push really hard to compress the spring so the valve will open and then slip and cause a spill or get stuck in the filler neck that the EPA does not want to happen anyway"

WVO trick is to use a Gatorade bottle with the bottom cut off. The threads will screw it into place... i dont know about diesel fuel and plastic, should be ok for 5 gallons???

This I've never heard! What size Gatorade bottle has a neck/mouth that's as large as the threads on a fuel filler? I'll have to pay more attention next time I'm Krogering...

Cheers, John

Sixto,

Those Harbor freight items sure offer a nice range of solutions to the problem in the original posting.

I have an all plastic "squish" pump that I have used for the last 20 years or so. It has a fitting that could be threaded into a small drum bung and several length dip tubes to reach the bottom of the drum or 5-gal can or whatever. The plastics are probably polyethylene and polypropylene. It does retain a small amount of fuel when the job is done, but I store it in the open top of the last 5-gal can for a day or two until all is drained.
