cant get my old fuel filter out!???

I got the bolt off fine, but theres no room to get the damned thing out! Theres a big hose (i believe coolant hose) blocking it on the front side which I cant even take off temporarily cause it leaks coolant. what do i do?

It helps to know what year and model. You should update your signature with that information.

yeah sorry about that... car is 350SDL 1991.

I tried taking out one side of the coolant hose and keep it lifted upward so it wouldnt leak... i underestimated the amount of stuff in there i guess cause it started leaking everywhere... i quickly learned from my mistake and plugged it right back on. I did catch some of the leak in a nearby can and i put that back in the coolant tank. Looks like it leaked about a quart...

anyway.. i dont see how i can get the fuel filter out with this huge hose blocking the way.. the setup seems kind of dumb.

On my 87 300D you have to take the mounting plate off that is attached to the top of the filter. Once that is out of the way you can pull the hose back out of the way.
