Cherry bomb muffler( I'm going to get flack for this)

It is ever so slightly louder, but it is still nothing compared to the roar underneath the hood. It made the car feel more spunky and my mileage went up a little. The resonators offer very little resistance to flow and help eliminate the deep droning sound. Elimination of the resonator doesn't get you anything really, the muffler on the other hand blocks flow a lot more.
Thanks, a new muffler on it's way, we'll see.

This link shows how I suspended the system in the middle. The pipe has never leaked or come loose once!

Welded the new exhaust
Stock muffler?

Do you understand the operation of this bolt?

The plunger must contact the rack. However, the plunger travel is not very great, so, it's not difficult to bottom out the plunger or have the plunger fail to contact the rack. Either situation is NG for achieving the desired results.

You've got to feel the plunger contact the rack and stay within this range. It's not easy to accomplish and many folks don't understand the goal.

No its not common on a diesel. It will eventually plug up the fiberglass baffles inside with soot and become in effect a straight pipe, however it meets the legal definition of a muffler even when its packed with soot.

I must have screwed something up, no news there, you can stop laughing now, thanks! Seems ok, for the time being, will give it a few days to determine continual non shaking. Thinking the "o" ring gave me a false "reading" seeing as how it was inverted. Also picked out some debris on threads of bolt after it fell out. Old o ring? New muffler on it's way, will have resonators replaced with straight pipe.

Just checked out the youtube thing on straight pipe...WHOA! love the turbo whine! and I've got a muffler on it's way, may change mind, and have 'em put a less restrictive one on. Antique plates going on next (Jan '08) , no inspection, for now. Many folks around here are abusing said plates, so may hang on to the muffler.
