Exclamation Jeez.....

The second sentence of the Bosch manual states "As a rule the engine can be started without pressing the accelerator pedal"

And that's all I was saying in the first place.......

Your MB manual is a bit different from mine.....they use 15*C instead of 0*C....my owners manual is not the one that came with the car (none came with car).....it's from an old 240D that I used to own......

But as I said before...MB's intent to add a bit of extra fuel......

I don't think that I did too bad describing the guts of that governor....from memory, and not having opened one in about 10 years......

I also don't see the "rack dampener" adjustment that we were discussing in another thread.....gotta go thy're singin' the song to begin the NASCAR Race in Sonoma.....

Right, and I agree with that. I thought you were trying to say it automatically defaults to the maximum fuel position before starting.

If I had said "Full Load" rather than "Full Rack"...we would not have been splitting hairs here .....all FIP's, not even all Bosch FIP's operate exactly the same.....and as I have stated before, I have worked on many different diesel engines, but primarily those of German origin...and mostly Slow Speed and Medium Speed engines that are designed to run for long periods of time at a steady speed for optimum efficiency (or in the case of a generator prime mover, steady speed to maintain required frequency 50hz or 60hz, depending on where you are).....

And if you had not been jerking this guy's chain about his rotor cap and such.....I would not have tried to warn him to attempt to be a bit more knowledgeable about his vehicle...and again we would not have had this discussion.....

but I in fact did say "full rack" and have been humbly chastised.....and I was wrong in regard to the Bosch M pumps used on these Benzes......and sincerely promise that I won't do it again.....

Well, sorry for being thorough. I'd rather put out my point condensed and in one shot than string it across multiple posts.
