Even after all that, I still don't like chrome fender trim.

And, I mentioned no specific ethnicality. What you've come up with is entirely from your own mind. Look inward and recognize the impurity in your thought process.

I don't like the chrome pieces, don't look Mercedes to me, look more at home on a Caddy, ... as do gold-plated emblems.

Although it might speed the corrosion of the wheel arches, including the holes drilled, and make it harder to sell to a purist, it is after all up to the taste of the owner.

My Wife likes 'em, but they're my cars so no chrome on the vintage Benzes.

It amazes me that people will pay thousands of dollars for aftermarket wheels that IMHO only detract from the cars look. I think that the only reasonable upgrades are the round or square euros or other OEM upgrades Just my 2 cents and not intended to inflame or insult.

Just started reading this thread and the first comment says it all.....Why mess with an already pleasing design? I see those chrome wheel thingies and a little voice whispers "russst"

Don't be tacky chrome sux. Mercedes are supposed to be understated, and chrome is most certainly not.

If you want to show everyone how poor your tastes are buy a Caddy and slap chrome all over it, you can get bling bling chrome wheels, and grills from the dealer!

If you want to remove all doubt that you have no taste, buy a Lexus and put gold badges on it.

Note, if you put gold badges on a Mercedes you deserve to be shot, and are most likely a drug dealer and/or pimp.

Zip, my flame suit is on.

It's your car, do whatever you like. I never really liked these on any of my previous cars, never had a benz before and my current W126 is only my first. When I purchased the car there was a bad dent in one of the wheel arches along with rust, and to repair it properly was not worth it. Plus I always though that pre 90 Benz had chrome wheel arches from the factory. I had seen so many on 126, 123 ,107 cars with them. So I bought a set of polished stainless steel wheel arch moldings. It covered up the blemish entirely and made my car look much better. when parked next to another stock looking w126 with out them, I think that both cars look good, either way. In my case, it worked for me. I don't think I would have installed them if it wasn't for the rusted dent. My uncle has a r107 and this was the first thing he did when he purchased it. like I said , it works both ways with or without.

after reading this thread, i walked out to the garage where my SD is sitting on jackstands ( im waiting for my valve body spring kit)

when i bought it, it had those chrome wheelwell thingys on. I didnt particularly like them but i was afraid the paint would be hammered underneath, so i figured i was stuck with them.

After a minute or two of staring at the hideous clouded chrome, i grabbed the drill and took out those rivets. I felt SO MUCH BETTER!-- and bonus, under the layer of dirt sandwiched between the bling and the fender, there was no rust and the paint looked good.

dont do it, dude. you will regret it.

oh yeah, and racists are flaming ******s. bwahahahahahaha
