Rear End issues with my w124 87 300d-sways all over the road
I've got an 87 300d that feels like
Issue #1: the rear end is swaying all over the place. I just replaced the control arm/hub joint bushings with new ones and I think it helped a bit. The old ones were toast. But it still sways a bit. Issue #2: When I hit the accelerator to boost up a hill it takes off very nice but feels like the rear wheel torque is steering the car! I've really gotta hang onto the wheel to keep control. I'm glad for the power but it feels like it's not evenly distributed or something. Thanks for any ideas! Nick |
feel the torque,,,, look at your rear shocks

My suspension felt like I was standing up in a canoe at 70 mph until I changed the subframe bushings.

Have u checked the sway bar links???
|
I forgot to mention I did change the subframe bushings (diff mounts).

How do I know if they are bad? Also, what does the sway bar do?

im guessing it keeps the rear end from sway all over the place. THe usual sign to tell if the sway bar links are bad, is when your driving, the rear end will creek and clunk when you go over bumps, turn or what have you. I know this cause mine are starting to go, and i already have the parts, i've just been to lazy to replace mine..
If its anything like the W123, it will be right behind the rear brakes. The are plastic and white (assuming its just like the w123) |
Ok I will check those out tomorrow. Hope that will fix it. Thanks for the help.
