Key locked. Diesel Gaint. Lower steering?

The key is locked in 0 or first position. I will try all suggestions that I have read on numerous posts. Vibrating, lube, new key, etc. Last resort will be to follow Diesel Gaints ignition removel pictorial.

My question is with regards to DG's tutorial. After loosening the 13mil nuts to lower steering wheel my tumbler catches in dash hole. The tumbler protrudes out a little as it normally does. I am not able to lower the steering enough to get access to pin. So, I can drill it out.

How do I lower steering wheel if I can't remove tumbler in 0 stuck position to gain access to pin?

Paul

Have you simply tried to see if the lock will free itself by continuing to turn the wheel in either direction and jiggling the lock with the key. I've had locks seem stuck on all the MB's I've had at one point or another and all it took was what I described above.

key locked

I played with it for about an hour. The car is still sitting at local chinese buffet. I will go at it again in the morning. I will try some of the suggestions in the morning. But, I really would be interested in drilling out the pin. How do I lower the steering wheel if tumbler is in the way?

Paul
