I'm fed up w/my w124!!! Anyone know anything about the vac system

I Just broke one of the brittle vacuum nipples on the main Vac line to the brake booster.

I'm sooooooooo confused on this car. There's only one line coming off of the thick black Brake Booster line from the pump. I believe it goes to the key because when I broke the nipple there is now no shut-off.

If there's only the one nipple coming off, where do all the other lines get vacuum from???

Anyone got a link to a vac diagram?
Thanks,
Nick

yes the line you broke taps into the main vacuum line that runs from the pump to the brake booster. it goes to the ignition.

perhaps you did the same thing I did a while ago and broke it while trying to remove/install the GP relay cover?

easy fix, hardly anything to get fed up about. old plastic gets brittle and breaks, not just a 124 issue.

I broke that line when i was changing the vacuum pump. And the valve in the middle is the line that gives vacuum to the shut off valve.

here is a pic

unfortunatley you cant replace that one valve youll have to relace the entire line with a new one like i did.

here is the hose.

i believe the vacuum pump on the front of the engine has 2 ports. One is for the shut off valve and brake booster. The other is for everything else. I cant say for sure since my 300D isnt with me in SF to check. But someone else will chime in.

There are two ports on the pump -- the vac line for the brakes and the fuel shutoff, and a smaller one that goes to a 5-way T. That one provides vac for the transmission control, climate control, and EGR and Air Recirc control systems.

Kinda messy, but MUCH simpler than a GM auto climate control circa 1965.....
