2/3 valve connector

Ok so from what i have seen in the vacuum diagram section is the 2/3 valve even needed if you dont use an EGR? also the trans system does the vac bleed line need an orfice in it or does it just dump under the dash its all so confusing why do they love there vacuum so much
its an 82 240D that has a motor and trans out of an 82 300D turbo in it

My understanding of it is that one of those valves controls the egr and the other controls the trans, which is how mine is hooked up right now with no egr. I also understand that the orifice is necessary to regulate the rate of applied vacuum to the trans against the rate of release from the valve and control on top of the IP, there are (I believe) 10 different orifices available depending on application/vehicle. If you still have your origional orifice keep it and don't lose it, they are color coded for size. Somewhere on the forum here there are links to a few posted diagrams, one of them shows all the orifices in a listing at the bottom of the drawing, which I believe is for exactly an 82 240D even...;)

No. If your EGR valve is not operating, the 2/3 valves won't do anything but provide a great opportunity for vacuum leaks to occur.

Both 2/3 valves operate the EGR valve. One causes it to open, the other causes it to close at near WOT by venting vacuum.

Agree with TF.

If the engine is an '82 300 turbo, the 3/2 valve only control EGR and you can eliminate all lines to and from the black box on the valve cover.

Cool thats what I thought but I wasnt sure, now as for the orifice does it go in the feed or the vent line for the trans valve
