4 Speed Manual to 5 Speed Manual Swap
I am not expecting many replies on this but for those of you lucky enough to have been around the 5 speed getrags, perhaps an answer may be available.
If the 4 speed manual were exchanged for a 5 speed, would the shift assembly need to be changed due to the different shift pattern and position of reverse? |

So the trans, shifter, rods hydraulic lines everything else would have to be found even with an existing 4SP manual in place? |

I agree with stevo. The hydraulic line should be the same. The additional gear will probably not increase the top end much if any...unless you add power to the engine somehow.
A very nice swap. In this case, I suspect a ds from an automatic equipped car might be about the right length. We are in the process of swapping a four speed manual into my 82 300cd right now and it appears that the ds from a 240 automatic front half will be the right length for it. Good luck. Tom W |
