blue smoke after idling in traffic
Just today I put some of the ULSD diesel in my 99. It has been pretty much canola oil since today. After I was sitting in traffic I noticed some blue white smoke coming out the exhaust. Then a puff when I took off.
At full throttle it is only the normal black diesel smoke and the car still has excellent power. I checked and the crankcase is ventilating well. A while back I was experimenting with a different crankcase ventilation and I mistakenly put a fitting that was closed on the inside without me knowing it. Needless to say after I accelerated down the street and blue smoke was pouring out and when I stopped the dipstick was up in the air and oil was squirting everywhere, I knew what happened. It was a short distance but I hope I did not create permanent damage that is surfacing now. Also this car has 30k on canola oil with the Elsbett system. Anytime I let it sit idling, it starts to lightly smoke then a puff when I take off. The other thing is I have a crack in the exhaust manifold by the turbo. Any possibility the seals are going bad in the turbo? It is a flood car but there was no fluid contamination and I believe the line where the water went to was below the turbo. I do hear my turbo and I know a lot of people say you really do not on these cars. I know a lot is going on here but I thought I would post for the excellent help I have always received. Thanks!
