AMP guage in a w126?

Has anyone installed an amp guage in their 126? If so how did you do it, where did you mount it, How does it look and does it work? Thanks.

Why would you prefer to install an ammeter? In most cases, it reads the net charge/discharge in the system..........typically close to zero.........unless the battery is very weak.

A voltmeter is preferable.

Since the diesel draws no power when it's running, you would rarely see significant charging. I agree, voltmeter is more useful.

ahh volt meter. Yes My battery died this week so I was wondering about installing a gauge to visually see what the alternator is putting out and what the battery juice looks like. Has anyone done this? Also you may see the post on aux fan issue that started after the new battery install. Thanks.

You want a voltmeter. If the voltage doesn't remain over 13V whenever the engine is running (with the exception of idle and a heavy electrical load), then you know you've immediately got "problems".
