My 1980 300SD came with 1035 belts stock, which worked fine. Then I installed a smaller fan pulley from a 1983 300SD. I had a set of used 1000 belts, which fit fine. However, when I bought a new set 1000 belts to replace the used, cracked 1000 belts, they were too small. I had to take off the fan pulley, put them on the pulley, then install to get them on. Once they stretched from use, then they were easy to get on and off.
So, I am thinking that 1015 belts might be a better size for mine, since they will be big enough to get on the pulleys when they are new, and should still be tight after they stretch and are adjusted.
