Do yourself a favor and take the radiator out of the vehicle. Get some condenser cleaner (phosphoric acid) and thoroughly clean the fins with the acid and some compressed air. Do a thorough job and reinstall it with proper coolant.

I'll bet your temps will drop 10C. with just this low cost maintenance task.

Another Update

First of all, thank you all for your input....

The issue with my car was weak head gas kit, the other night I got a little excited and pushed the car to the limits, 220 km/h for about 10 minutes in a wide open highway zone. The next morning lots of smoke etc took it to my mechanic we took the head off and found blown head gas kit, it blew right at the front of the head behind the timing chain and thats where most of the oil comes to the head, the signs showed that it had been weak before so causing low oil pressure in the head....hence lifter noise when hot. Cold engine would run ok but when hot due to expansion it would lose oil pressure.

I can't tell though if it was heating up because of leaking head gas kit as well or are these temps normal for these cars, my car was running 80 to 105 before the head gas kit replacement.

I'm going to pick it up in the next 30 mins so don't know what kind of temp reading will i get but post again tomorrow.

Atif

I think you mean gasket, instead of "gas kit".

Do post your new results after the repair.

WOW!!! is all I can say....

Got myself a brand new 300D, the engine is so quite and smooth now, I can't believe its a diesel....

We decided to put new glow plugs and do valve job as well since we had it all apart, also replaced the engine mounts, all parts were purchased from mercedes benz after checking the technical bulletins to ensure we get the revised parts etc.

For the last 2 days its been quite hot here in and around toronto....yesterday with A/c on my temp went up to 110 for a few minutes but stayed close to 100 mostly when outside temp sensor was showing 90 to 94 F, is this normal?

Recently cooling system wise I have put a new fan clutch and thermostat and have been using yellow MB specific coolant with no additives.

Now that the car is mechanically perfect with this low mileage I just want to make sure that it doesn't over heat.

As Brian suggested earlier I should've done this cleaning with phosphoric acid while the car was all apart, totally forgot about it.

Thanks all for your input once again.

Atif
