Weight of 617.95* turbo diesel engine?

I did a search on this forum for the weight of the 617 turbo diesel engine and I found all kind of weights for it. There was nothing that satisfied me as valid. I found someone who said it weighs 750 lbs!A few others said around 475. Which one should I believe?
So what is the actual weight of the engine minus the accessories. I'm trying to find out for HenryDupont so he won't have to physically take his engine to the shipper to get it weighed. We're trying to get an idea of what it will cost to ship it and whether it'll be worth it.
Sure I have a couple of engines that I can weigh myself
but I don't have a scale that'll go that high.

That's an idea but I'd have to call them. Their site doesn't specify it.

I have tried to find that post with Search many times and have been unsuccessful. I just end up with a bunch of posts of engine weights that don't agree with each other, like 538 up to 750 pounds for the 617.

I got the same thing by searching the forum. The search feature here is about as bad as they get, kind of like what Yahoo was in its early days. To me 575 sounds closer to reality. I had three of these engines, a wide assortment of extra engine parts plus a tranny in the back of my 1/2 ton pickup and it didn't even feel anywhere near being overloaded.
I used a come-a-long hooked up to a loop of rope hanging from my garage beam to unload the engines from my truck. No problems.

FYI, I think a 3.9l cummins weighs 490lbs or something (dry weight, no access), and thats a pretty heavy engine.

I called Metric Motors today and they told me a long block weighs around 475 lbs without the manifolds or accessories.
