What's my motor's power output?

Hello-

I have a 79 300SD and am trying to determine if I have the 111hp or 121hp motor. My motor was replaced with a factory rebuild sometime in the mid-80s. The tag on the rebuild notes it as a 617.950 motor, I forget the other numbers and am out of town, or else I would check.

Is there a way to visually ID the 111hp motor from the 121hp motor from the exterior, or is everything internal?

Thanks-
Rob

You don't have a motor, you have an engine that is 110hp.

Wie bitte? Es ist ein "motor"

Thanks for the clarification, from the 116.org board it had both specs listed for the 617.950 engine so I wasn't sure. That and I didn't know if they put a more powerful engine in as a replacement. I think the reman was made in 82, have to check it out when I get home.

IIRC, the 1980 OM617.950 engine was uprated. I'm not sure there are any externally visible differences. I believe the change may have been because of a new , harder camshaft.
