Talking Nothing is broke!!

I can't beleive I am posting this because something is going to break. But nothing is broke on my car, everything works as it did from the factory.

I'm screwed! This is strange I'm not sure what to do....

Oh wait I was wrong the antenna switch blew apart the other day, so something is broke. I need to go to the dealer and pick a new one up.

I just get a strange feeling when I'm not fixing stuff, I'm afraid its working on breaking something expensive, like a main bearing or something...

Negative.

You still have not pulled the rear glass and replaced the gasket........and did the rust repair.........so, you still have a "list"..........just like the rest of us........

..........and, you conveniently forgot the BIG item on the list........

No I did about two years ago.

The only thing I didn't do was cut out the rear sill and weld a new one in, thats next. But technically the rust is "fixed" for now.

I still have a list, I'm just shocked that its actualy shrinking.

I'm not done yet, I need to put about another $10k into it. Then it should be done.

My broker just got her SDL painted and some of the interior was done, looks sweet! The parking lot at the office looks like a freaken MB show now.

Did it actually need a new sill?

I need to do the job on the SD..........I can see the rust lines from inside the trunk.

Yeah the sill has some holes in it, it was a lot worse when I got the window out. I covered it in rust eating paint, and filled the holes with copper and Marine Tex. (epoxy)

But its a repair that will only last a few years, I just wanted to slow the rust. The rust is actualy starting to come back.

When I repaint the car I'm fixing it once and for all since its the worst rust spot on the car. The sill needs to be cut out and rebuilt, I just hope I can get it from MB still. I think you can order that part.

I'm kicking myself because that 420SEL I junked had a pristine rear sill, I wasn't thinking I should have cut it out. I may try to precure a used one from one of our southern friends. I could probably get the metal work done for some beer, I know a few people. Then let the body shop fair it and paint it.

I'm certainly not looking forward to that.

Won't the POR-15 stop the rust and allow you to leave it alone? I'm surprised.........

I did not use POR15, but a hole is a hole, those need to be fixed.

You will see when you get it apart better, but if you lay in the trunk you can look up and see a seam. Once the rust gets in that seam its just about impossible to stop it. I can't figure out how to get paint in it.

There is a set of holes in the trunk. I can reach my fingertips into those holes and get rust...........

Can't it be fiberglassed?

Try not to eliminate your finger tips in the process.
