Nope, sorry, I got nothing done carwise this weekend, and nothing will happen for at least a month

I have too many demands on my time...wife, girlfriend or mistress, one of them has to go, cause I'm sure not parting w/ any of my automobiles.

I am very curious as to whether the SS pot idea will be workable on a Benz.

It should be. You just need to find the right size pot and cut it to fit.

So I finally got the time to work on the coupe again, I did a 'test' heat shield out of 22 gauge mild steel, I'm fairly pleased with the results, the LOA is almost 16", I would have made it 2 inches longer, but as I feared it was impossible get it in. I removed the mount for the tranny dipstick and that gave me a little wiggle room on the install, but not much. I did not want to remove the turbo to install this.

The final edition will be 304 stainless.

I'm gonna drive it for a few weeks and see if it hangs tuff.

this is the end that goes toward the firewall... the other side is scalloped to go around the inlet from the turbo

sizing it up for the mounting holes and tabs. its really unobtrusive.

This is version 1.0 heat shield for the battery, heat kills batteries, the newer models have the battery located behind a firewall, much better insulated from the turbo. I'm now on version 1.5.

I also ordered some hi temp, adhesive-backed, reflective insulation...

I want to wrap the turbo supply line and the oil separator return lines with it, I also ordered some Stainless steel zip ties.

The heat shield for the intake is still taking shape... I used some burly cap head bolts and I like the look.
