Just thought I'd bring closure to this thread...

I had to have the car towed to the shop where I bought it. The diagnosis was the throttle linkage cable had snapped. They charged me 189.00 ... (55$ for the tow) and it's fixed and works fine.

So I guess thats some really good, bad luck.

All old MB's have 165,000 on the odo and the safety wire removed on the back of the gauge. Trust no one. Welcome to the world of old MB's. You didn't buy it from that lying Mexican b*****d who has a repair shop around Cocoa, Fl did you?
