MB wiring colors
Hello,
While I know that this is more of a stereo related question, answers pertaining to the older cars dont seem to get answered in there, and this question is more fundamental. My 83 had a becker europa cassette deck. My 85 has a becker grand prix. Given that (a) becker has an elegant ipod integration for the europa that is not available for the grand prix, and (b) the fiancee and I both agree that the analog europa unit fits better into the car for oldness and sentimental reasons, I want to put my 83's europa deck, when refurbished by the shop, into the 85. The problem is that there are additional wires for the grand prix stereo that are not there for the older car. So, Id like to know generally what wire colors mean what in MBs. Particularly red (+12) black (grd) brown (another ground???) grey(???) red/black, green/black, etc. Any generic or specific help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! JMH

Red/black, green/black and black all are related to the speakers. It gets messy because of the fader setup
Brown is ground, not black like in most other cars Red I can't recall but it's either hot 12v or accessory 12v. Use a multimeter to find out and use a 9V battery to figure out what speaker is what
