overheating or not
ok now im probably just being paranoid here but i think my 240D is running too hot on the interstate... at 70-75mph it will run at the mark above where the gauge is sitting in this picture... any comments

I have that same Farenheit gauge on my 240D and mine sits right at that line when cruising above 65. Above 70 it will go a little over as you described. Interested also to hear the verdict on this one.
This is only on a hot summer day though. It is lower when it is cool out. No working AC here.:( |
I also have that same Farenheit gauge on my 300D and wondered if it was running warm. The answer I got was no it's not. I was told that the next white line up is 100c or 212f My car runs at the same point as your photo if under 60mph.
If I am running faster on a hot day with AC on it May climb to slightly under the 212f mark. Would guess that to be 195-200f. If stuck in traffic on that hot day with AC on it will reach that white line and the cooling fan will come on and the temp will drop. I understand this to be normal operation. Please correct me if I am wrong. |
not running hot. I reach that temp whenever i run above 100kph and i slowed down. In traffic I reach 100*, that's the 4th white line in the gauge, it stays there until i get going at a steady pace wherein it will drop just above the 3rd line.
