What happens when they use internet shorthand on their resumes because they've been using it unilaterally for so long they actually think it's proper? I've seen resumes come in like that from time to time. They immediately get thrown into the 'circular file'.

Stupid is as stupid does, as they say.

Now that might make them stupid.......
But it shouldn't elicit the venom that it appears to have.

Careful, you're talking about my hero there. I am thinking of getting that tattooed on my back, as a reminder.......

In doing so you have just deprecated yourself. Heh. I have to admit on a resume that is unacceptable.

I hate it when people call it AOL speak. For christ sakes I have been using wtf long before AOL went IPO.

What ever your generation, speaking English according to the rules of grammar should be standard and is courteous to your audience. "AOL" speak is all well and good until you have to sort through a 100 resumes of people who can't even speak standard English. I'm talking about people born, raised and educated in this country. I, for one, am tired of it.

Also, this thread should probably be locked to cut of the inevitable stupid retort.

Does anyone still use resumes (on paper ), it's been a while since I've seen one of those. I usually get jobs through an exchange of e-mail and/or voice mail, sometimes without even talking to a person.

BTW, you know you're getting old if you ever catch yourself saying, "kids today."

It's funny how TurboSDL complained about thread side-tracking and now his thread about project completion has turned into a not-so-scholarly debate on modern abuses of the written English Language. This isn't a criticism of anyone, just an observation.

Obviously, the poor kid wanted to find out how to fix his car, and after going to hell and back to get it running he wanted to tell us about it. In the process (and his first few posts on this board) he committed a few faux-pas of forum thread-writing. Not once did he mean any malice by it. Now everybody is all over his case.

Again, I do not mean to criticise anyone. I'm just observing.

Ok, I too am annoyed with the TLA's used in internet language... And I'm JUST 20, so I was a teenager not too long ago....

But, I feel for the guy and really think ya'll were a bit harsh on him... Take a deeeep breath...... AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

glad to hear his issue, (whatever it was) is resolved though. In acutuallity, if he edits his first post, gives a background of what happened, then a good explanation of the fix, it might still be a useful thing for searchers....
